Be part of the change, be part of the solution We have teamed up with local agencies to develop a Peer-Led Crisis Alternative Pilot within our Mental Health and Addictions Service and we are looking for Community Support Workers to join the team.

In this role, you will provide support to people experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis or those who facing distress of some sort. In order to provide that support, you should be someone who has been in a similar situation yourself and/or be whanau of those with lived experience of mental health and/or addiction issues.

You will work together with our clinical and other non-clinical mental health and addictions staff, cultural support staff and other community support services to ensure patients are getting better health outcomes.

Whilst experience as a support worker is preferable, we encourage applicants with community experience in other roles, especially with a whanau ora approach. You will need to be someone who is resilient, patient, emotionally strong and a great communicator.

You will need a full driver’s license for this position and ideally you will have a National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work Level 4 or be working towards it. This role is under the Allied, Public Health & Technical Workers MECA.
