**Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Join Beca’s progressive and growing Water Quality team in this senior Environmental Scientist role, with a focus upon freshwater outcomes. You will be working in a team with a collaborative and team-oriented style and a reputation for excellence in practice, who share a passion for robust technical analysis to understand and solve water quality issues.

Beca is involved in some of the most important environmental and infrastructure improvement projects in Australasia and the Pacific. Our clients include central and local government, network utility providers, industrial facilities and developers, as well as iwi and private organisations requiring environmental science expertise.

You will contribute to a diverse variety of technical assessments and will manage projects around the country. This role will enable you to develop your career both in your technical field as well as a senior consultant as part of a multi-disciplinary organisation. Other key role components include:

- Lead projects to enhance freshwater outcomes on behalf of our clients, with support from the broader team
- Lead and undertake water quality analysis including field work
- Lead the preparation of proposals to clients
- Maintain and develop great relationships with internal and external clients
- Uphold and promote the Beca key values of partnership, tenacity, enjoyment, and care
- Engage with iwi to enhance the mauri of our freshwater ecosystem

This role will provide you with significant opportunities to grow your career through a variety of project opportunities. As part of the Environmental & Sustainability Advisory section, you will be part of a team of over 60 environmental scientists and sustainability advisors located throughout New Zealand, who are focused on shaping environmental and sustainability outcomes.

This role will enable you to combine your passion for the environment and your technical capabilities to help solve real world client problems. You will enjoy working with people from a range of backgrounds, including with clients to understand their needs. You will provide robust technical advice and analysis to improve environmental outcomes.

This is a broad role where ideally your background will include an understanding and experience in:

- Analysis of health and quality of freshwater systems
- A thorough understanding and experience working with New Zealand’s legislative and planning framework
- Knowledge and experience of working in water-related projects in particular, stormwater and wastewater
- Managing projects and leading teams to deliver great outcomes
- Proven ability in data analysis including the use of statistical software and interpretation
- Strong communication and writing skills
- A degree in environmental science, freshwater science or related discipline
