**The Company**

My client is a New Zealand owned and operated organisation in the construction industry, that are committed to fixing the New Zealand housing crisis, by building affordable homes for the everyday kiwi family. What sets them apart is that they build large-scale residential projects and use cutting-edge methods making the homes more affordable. Due to an internal promotion, they are currently looking for a Payroll Officer on a part-time basis (20 hours per week) or and Payroll Officer/ Assistant Accountant on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a part time or full-time position that could go permanent for the right person.

**The Role**

In this full function payroll position you will work closely with the cost accountant at the offices located on site. Your responsibilities will include a weekly and fortnightly payroll for both hourly and salaried staff, from setting up new starters through to IRD filing. As this is a long-term ongoing project, you also have the opportunity to pick up Assistant Accountant tasks should you wish to expand your skillset and work full time.

**Payroll (Part-time)**
- Weekly and fortnightly pay cycles for both salaried and waged staff members.
- Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and accurately
- Collect, calculate, and enter data in order to maintain and update payroll information
- Resolving payroll discrepancies
- Knowledge around holidays act beneficial

**Assistant Accountant (Full-time)**:

- Assist with the preparation of cost reports
- Assisting with variance analysis reports, tracking expenditure and forecasting changes to budget costs.
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
- Ad hoc reporting for the Finance Manager and Cost Accountant
- Any additional tasks required.

**Skills & Experience**

We are looking for an experienced payroll officer who can hit the ground running and bring a positive attitude and proven experience to this role. You will have excellent attention to detail and a strong knowledge of the New Zealand Holiday Act.

You will have strong communication skill both written and verbal as you will be liaising with a wide range of people. You will have experience working in a sole charge Payroll position.
