Are you passionate about turning data into decisions that make a real impact? Join the University of Canterbury’s (UC) Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team and help shape the University’s long-term financial sustainability and success.

As a Financial Planning Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing financial models, forecasts, and insights that guide strategic decision-making across the University. You’ll collaborate with Finance Business Partners and senior leaders to deliver forward-looking analysis, inform investment decisions, and enhance financial capability throughout UC.

You will be responsible for:

- Building and maintaining robust long-range financial planning models and scenario analyses
- Providing strategic financial insights that inform budget setting, resource allocation, and decision-making
- Evaluating business cases and investment proposals through detailed cost-benefit and sensitivity analysis
- Creating data-driven tools and dashboards using platforms such as Adaptive Planning and Power BI.
- Supporting continuous improvement and innovation in planning processes and financial capability development.

** Mōu | Who You Are**
You will at least 7 years’ experience in financial planning, analysis, or management reporting—ideally in a large, complex organisation, as well as:

- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel capability; experience with Adaptive Planning and Power BI is highly regarded.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to connect financial outcomes to organisational goals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to translate complex information into actionable insights.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; progress toward a professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, or CIMA) is an advantage.
