The Hauraki Gulf Marine Park is New Zealand's first marine park, and Aotearoa's only national park of the sea. Covering 1.4 million hectares of ocean, it's more than 20 times the size of Lake Taupo. It's also intensively used and on the doorstep of our most populated city.

The proposed Hauraki Gulf / Tikapa Moana Marine Protection Bill will give effect to new marine protection areas that aim to improve the marine health of the Gulf. It will be bespoke legislation, the first of its kind in Aotearoa, and is part of the wider Revitalising the Gulf programme.

Reporting to the Operations Manager of the newly formed Auckland Marine Team, you will be working closely with the region's internal relationship managers/leads. Through and with these leads you will support the communications and engagement with iwi for Revitalising the Gulf. Internal and external relationship skills will be showcased as you navigate this exciting space.

You will have the opportunity to provide advice, support and coaching on Te Reo, tikanga and matauranga Maori. As part of the District Leadership team, you will support development priorities for the district.
