Our Opportunity
We are currently looking for an apprentice baker to join us at our Quality Bakers Auckland site, reporting to the Team Leader. The role of the Apprentice Baker is to learn the art of preparing, baking, and packaging bread, buns, and rolls before going on to enroll and complete a level 4 Plant Baking Apprenticeship. We want to develop a passionate baker's technical skills to ensure the production of high-quality baked products.
- This is a 3-year apprenticeship which is supported with internal and external training and development.

**Shift pattern available**:

- Wednesday to Saturday (Wed 12pm
- 7:30pm and Thurs, Fri, Sat 7am
- 7:30pm)

**Pay rate**: $26 p/h

**Key accountabilities of the role include**:

- Understand the ingredients used in the baking process to be able to make adjustments to batches to provide quality and consistency
- Learn to understand and master the whole production line making the difference between good and great
- Work for an essential food services industry producing key products for your community
- Keen learner of the baking process and techniques to help produce top quality product and minimise waste
- Effectively moves between departments to assist, relieve or work/operate plant equipment as required
- Participate in developing and mentoring others completing baking qualifications
- Adhering to food safety procedures and company policies
- Ensuring machines run in an efficient and uninterrupted manner
- Meeting deadlines in a busy work environment

About You

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- Preferably experience working in a FMCG manufacturing
- Baking qualification or certificate
- Strong Numerical and Literacy skills
- Health and Safety certificates (preferred)
- Food Safety and Quality certificates (preferred)
- Passion for bread and baking with a willingness to continually develop your learning
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- A positive work attitude and professional manner
