Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners.

**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position**:
As a Kaiāwhina in this project, you will be a key member of the Career Working Group | Rōpū Pūkenga Mahi, you will act as a mentor, helping ākonga connect with career opportunities, explore various pathways, and build confidence in their abilities.

This role involves working closely with ākonga, whānau, and community partners to offer culturally-centered, personalised support that aligns with ākonga and whānau aspirations and values. You will be working closely with Kaiwhakatere, Youth Transition Team and other key kaimahi in Te Kura.

Additionally, as part of the group, you will assess current practices in Careers Education at Te Kura and contribute to strategic planning for future initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide mentoring and guidance for ākonga as they explore career options and set future goals.
- Assist in organising career events, workshops, and visits with local businesses and organizations alongside kaiwhakatere and other key kaimahi.
- Collaborate with kaimanaaki, whānau, and community groups to create a holistic support network.
- Promote cultural identity and confidence, helping ākonga connect their aspirations to whānau and iwi values.

We are looking for people with excellent interpersonal skills and an inclusive approach, able to quickly build rapport and trust with ākonga.

Have recent experience in careers development programs or similar.
- Passionate about youth development and career guidance.
- Skilled at building positive relationships with ākonga, whānau, and community partners.
- Committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for ākonga growth and exploration.
