PSC is a charity incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957. While we operate as a separate entity to the Presbyterian Church, our name is a celebration of our beginnings, our heritage and the values we share.
PSC’s services for the Upper Hutt community are provided by Family Works, while our services for older people are provided by Enliven. Family Works is one of New Zealand's largest NGOs providing integrated social services for the whole community. Our Family Works services support children, young people, families and communities who have experienced trauma, family violence, separation, poverty, stress and anxiety, to have a safer and brighter future.
Family Works programmes include social work; support with families experiencing family violence; ongoing counselling support to adults, couples, youth, children and families; group and individual programme for Tamariki and Wāhine who have experienced trauma; parenting programme; family dispute resolution.
**Mō te tūranga** - **About the role**
We are seeking a dedicated Counsellor who has a good understanding of family and child context.
In this role you’ll deliver counselling and related support to children/tamariki and their families/whanau.
You can expect to be looking after a busy caseload where no two days are the same. It may involve group work and related services to individuals, adults, adolescents, couples, families and whanau. You will be involved in working with children, families and individuals affected by a range of issues.
**Mo koe** - **About You**
You are a passionate, energetic person with the ability to connect to children and their families. You will be knowledgeable, organised and have excellent communication skills. Your approach to your work will be with kindness, good understanding of the counselling Modalities and process. Above all, the drive to do right by the client.
You will be a NZAC accredited - full or provisional - Counsellor to work with families, parents and children, with experience working with family harm and or mental health would be an advantage.
In addition to being a passionate counsellor, you will also have:
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, youth and children
- Membership with a professional organisation (full or provisional)
- Flexible, skilled, safe and creative approaches in supporting vulnerable people.
- Experience working with family violence and trauma would be an advantage
- A positive approach and ability to work in a collaborative team.
