**About the role**:
We are on a journey to empower our product teams to solve the hard problems - customer problems and business problems - in ways that our tauira love, yet work for our kaimahi and kaiako. The Senior Software Engineer & Platform Lead will play a key role within the Taupārongo team as you help shape and contribute to a new digital strategy.

This role will lead and form software engineering and technical platform activity across Te Wānanga o Aotearoa’s inaugural product team. As part of the broader Sustainability Value Stream, our inaugural product team will be cross-functional and long-standing as we embark on a product-centric way of working.

Reporting to the Director Value Stream, Digital and Information, amongst other things, you’ll:

- Develop a deep understanding of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa’s digital strategy to guide and shape the Taupārongo API & Integration Strategy
- Build strong relationships to regularly communicate with product and platform stakeholders to iteratively develop our software engineer best practices
- Provide technical leadership to the SMS product team through coaching and mentorship
- Ensure the team is using industry-accepted best practices, including the adoption of a ‘quality mindset’ and ‘built-in quality’ by maintaining and leading high standards, e.g. CI, Test-First, Refactoring, collective ownership
- Lead/contribute to software engineering best practices e.g. operational support practices to under an Agile/DevOps approach
- Define/Build/Maintain CI/CD pipelines for development and delivery
- Lead all stages of feature development and operations to meet the required business outcomes for the SMS product team and product strategy
- Continuously monitor and evaluate technical product performance and proactively champion platform improvements
- Participate in sprint planning to determine and shape the team’s objectives for the upcoming sprint
- Analyse feedback from sprint reviews, and other data such as end user feedback and operational metrics, to identify and understand product needs
- Work with the product team to create acceptance criteria and definitions of failures

**About you - You’ll have**:

- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of relevant work experience with experience in a Senior Developer/Technical Lead role preferred
- Strong knowledge across the following;
- C#,.NET Core/Framework, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, SQL, PowerShell, Ionic/React Native
- Cloud stack: Azure/AWS/GCP, Azure DevOps/GitHub, CI/CD systems
- Front end frameworks: React/Angular/Vue.js, Typescript, SASS/SCSS, Bootstrap/Tailwind
- Database technologies, integration technologies, unit testing, infrastructure as code, container technology
- Strong knowledge of HTML and web framework
- Advanced knowledge digital technology delivery
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate matrixed and cross
- functional work teams
- Excellent business acumen
- Advanced analytical skills
