Here at the Specialist Mental Health Services, we believe that by practicing the principles of quality improvement and patient safety, we enhance the health care services, increase the job satisfaction of our staff and overall improve organisational effectiveness. We are passionate about continual improvement and learning from serious adverse events in order to improve care delivery. Based at Hillmorton Hospital, you will be part of the Quality and Patient Safety team, working with quality coordinators and clinical teams to improve consumer outcomes.

Pehea | About You
You will be required to lead the serious event review panel and follow-up with comprehensive reports. You'll have a proven ability to communicate calmly and effectively with tāngata whaiora (consumers), their whanau (family), and clinicians affected by serious adverse events. With initial mentoring and support, you will be required to analyse information from a range of sources and write a robust review report which will be disseminated to the consumer's family, staff and external agencies.
Your ability to build and maintain professional working relationships will be essential as you work with other members of the Quality and Patient Safety team involved in the incident review process, co-ordinate and lead a review panel of clinicians from multiple disciplines.

You will be a Senior Registered Nurse, or Allied Health professional with a current APC and scope to practice in Mental Health.

**Essential experience required**:

- Significant experience in Mental Health
- Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi
- Engaging and working with tāngata whaiora (consumers) and their whanau (family)
- High standard of written, communication, report writing and analytical skills
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team of health professionalsDesirable:

- A broad understanding of Mental Health systems and clinical practice
- An understanding of Quality and Patient Safety systems and standards
