**The Opportunity**

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in integrating new products into our manufacturing process and ensuring the reliability and quality of our testing procedures. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our innovative animal management solutions, through providing support for diagnosing and resolving production line testing issues. Your expertise will also be instrumental in providing technical mentoring and support to our NPD project teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours min per week - 50 hours max per week) located in Melville, Hamilton, New Zealand. The annual remuneration for this role is $86,400 NZD - $96,000 NZD depending on experience.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Develop assigned software components using appropriate languages and tools.
- Break down tasks into their constituent parts and estimate the amount of work involved in completing tasks.
- Together with the Production Engineering team provide first line support from R&D to Operations for the diagnosis and resolution of problems in production line testing.
- Develop effective working relationships with Manufacturing staff.
- Adhere to agreed coding standards and practices, such as code reviews, automated testing, and unit tests.
- Produce high-quality software components with a low defect rate.

**The Fit**

We’re looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about knowledge-sharing and mentoring. You’ll have extensive commercial development experience and be proficient in using debugging tools to track down problems. To succeed in this role you’ll also have:

- At least 3 years relevant experience
- Have experience in:

- Embedded C/C++.
- Debugging with and without JTAG.
- Use of oscilloscope and logic analysers.
- Developing ISRs.
- Proficient in C# (.NET framework 3.5 onwards).
- Experience with SQL.
- Proficient in use of compiler/development environments.
- Proficient at designing and documenting features or modules that are a part of a product or NPD project.
- Proficient in use of version control tools (TFS/GIT) and process and in the use of debugging tools relevant to the product.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Considerable experience working with new product introduction teams.
