About us
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, to detect and disrupt high-impact cyber threats for nationally significant organisations.

The role
**They can be expected to**:
- Receive notifications about high-impact cyber security incidents
- Gather the required information to triage and evaluate
- Carry out forensic investigations, sometimes on-site
- Provide evidence-based tactical and strategic mitigation advice, as they manage the incident through its lifecycle
Who are we looking for
**You You will have**:
- Communication skills that allow you to produce high quality investigative reports
- The ability to build strong relationships quickly in high pressure incident response environments
- The ability to relay information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A demonstrable interest in cybersecurity
Ideally you will have a background in one or more of the following:
- Operational Cyber Security
- Windows or Linux Digital Forensics
- Incident Management
- Programming and Scripting (experience with DevOps is a plus)
- Systems or Network Engineering
Before you apply
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
**You must**:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
