Kidz First Children’s Hospital based at Middlemore has an exciting role available to a Play Specialist looking for part time work. Play Specialists provide the opportunity for children and young people to grow and develop in the unfamiliar environment of a hospital. We are looking for someone who has experience working with children/young people within a diverse community.
The role involves maintaining normal developmental goals and assisting children and young people with issues relating to hospitalisation and illness. Flexibility, a sense of humour, organisational skills and innovation and effective open communication skills are key requirements.

**Essential**:
- Relevant experience working in an early childhood/primary school setting
- B.Ed (EC teaching/Primary) or Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) degree and current teacher registration or registration with HPSAANZ or actively working towards HPSAANZ
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Can demonstrate ability to provide appropriate play programmes for children of mixed aged groups
- Demonstrate an ability to be able to work as part of a diverse team
- Has worked within multi-cultural communities
