Madison Recruitment is partnering with one of the most recognized wine companies in New Zealand in a search for a new Vineyard Manager. Their vineyard is an esteemed 100-hectare property located in North Canterbury, New Zealand. They take pride in cultivating ultra-premium grapes for their globally distributed wine brand. Additionally, they hold fruit contracts with neighboring wineries. Their vineyard boasts a recently built state-of-the-art winery, specializing in small batch fermentations for Pinot Noir and employing a hands-on approach for their esteemed white wine program, featuring Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Riesling varieties.

**Job Purpose**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement annual operational plans, covering vineyard operations, spray strategies, soil fertility management, pest & disease monitoring, and more.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including frost and irrigation management, pruning, canopy management, and yield optimization.
- Conduct regular inspections for pests and diseases, providing timely reports to the General Manager.
- Collaborate with the winemaking team on harvest decisions, considering quality, picking methods, and tonnages.

**Key Requirements**:

- Vineyard management experience.
- Formal Viticulture or Horticulture qualification (preferred).
- Growsafe and approved handler certification.
- Experience with SWNZ requirements and grape link spray diary (desirable).
- Familiarity with Microsoft suites (desirable).
- Experience with frost protection systems (desirable).
- Proven experience in team management.
- Experience in developing new vineyard sites (advantageous).
