Ko wai mātou - About Us
As part of the Ministry of Health, the Public Health Agency (PHA) has a role in fulfilling the special relationship under Te Tiriti o Waitangi through partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora (the Māori Health Authority), iwi, hapū and, Māori communities and kaupapa Māori partners. The PHA will ensure a Tiriti led approach to population health that enables mana whakahaere in regard to Māori aspirations for health and wellbeing, enables mana motuhake so that Māori can live on their terms and according to Māori philosophies, values and practices and enables mana Māori including tikanga and kawa and encapsulated within mātauranga Māori.
The PHA is responsible for leading on all public health and population health policy, strategy, regulatory, intelligence, surveillance, and monitoring functions and for developing technical service specifications for public health programmes, that Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand), together with the Te Aka Whai Ora, will determine and co-commission services for.
Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
This position sits within one of four teams in the Policy and Regulation Group.
Working closely alongside the Principal and Senior Analysts, you will provide advice to support, maintain and improve the delivery of high-quality work programmes - the current work programme is focused on immunisation and alcohol harm minimisation..
In this key role, you will ensure all work is well planned, utilising work planning tools and taking strategic and tactical approaches to achieve results through high quality policy advice.
This is an exciting fast paced working environment where you will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to relevant policy advice and government and ministerial processes.

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst preserving high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships
