At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens (WMK), we're proud to support over 100 kindergartens across a variety of regions—from Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Manawatū, Kāpiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also offer a unique home-based service, Etu Ao, in Porirua and Levin, with a special focus on Pacific families.

Today, more than 6,000 children are part of the Whānau Manaaki kindergarten family, with an additional 150 children enrolled in our Etu Ao home-based programme. Together, we're building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.

**Community Description**

Lansdowne Kindergarten is set on the north end of Masterton in the suburb of Lansdowne and our families come from a wide geographical area including rural Wairarapa. Our diverse community are highly involved with and supportive of the kindergarten, its events, celebrations and excursions. The kindergarten has a strong focus on learning in the natural environment. As part of this we have built a thriving garden, orchard and vegetable patch.

As part of our bicultural practice, we promote the notion of tamariki as kaitiaki who respect themselves, each other, and their world. We enjoy connections with Pukaha Mt Bruce, local parks, rest homes and significant local organisations. We also have a successful transition to school programme with strong relationships with our local schools. We are licensed for 40 children.

This is a fixed term role is to cover leave at this Kindergarten - commencing, Term 4 6 October 2025 and this will conclude 2nd October 2026

As a.6 Part-time Teacher your total hours of work will be 24 hours per week, worked as follows:
Mon 3.25hrs (11.30am - 2.45pm)
Tue 4.5hrs (11.30am - 4.30pm inc 1/2hr unpaid break)
Wed 3.25hrs (11.30am - 2.45pm)
Thu 7hrs (8am - 3:30pm inc 1/2hr unpaid break)
Fri 6hrs (8am - 2.30pm inc 1/2hr unpaid break)

**We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who**:
We are looking for a kaiako who can:

- demonstrate a strength in providing a culturally responsive and inclusive care and education environment where tamariki can be confident in their identities, languages, cultures and abilities.
- contribute to reciprocal, collaborative learning-focused relationships with tamariki, whānau, teaching team, support staff and other professionals
- foster children's connections with the natural environment and support the kindergarten's focus on environmental education
- bring an innovative and fresh approach to implementing sociocultural theory and practice
- demonstrate evaluative practices across the curriculum, through a professional growth cycle and for quality improvement.
