Established in 1995, our client Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora provides quality health, education, and social services within the rohe of Tūwharetoa i te Aupouri and the Eastern Bay of Plenty communities that reflects te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha wairua me te taha whānau.
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Registered Clinician who has a background working in mental health to join our team. This is a full-time role.
**He aha te tūnga | About the role**
Toi Kaiāwhā will be provided to Māori whānau (across the age continuum from tamariki, rangatahi, pakeke and kaumatua with the focus on rangatahi) who are experiencing mild to moderate distress related to problems associated with loss, grief, trauma, alcohol and drug use, mental health concerns and are poorly connected to health and social services.
Kaupapa Māori Paradigm and service approach is central to the service model, Toi Kaiāwhā service will utilise Kaupapa Māori frameworks that incorporate Māori philosophies, values and practices. These strength-based frameworks draw on inherent cultural strengths and Mātauranga Māori to support therapy, treatment and empowerment of whanau.
**Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to**:
- Deliver a variety of interventions to tamariki, rangatahi, pakeke and kaumāta with complex needs as appropriate to the setting and presenting issue
- Document and educate clients on their treatment plans
- Plans discharge process with clients and co-ordinate where appropriate with relevant family/whanau/ support people.
- Application of kaupapa Maori interventions within a clinical setting
- Reporting
- Liaison with external stakeholders and iwi alliance providers
- Engage in professional development
- Tertiary qualified in Addictions and co-exisiting disorders or a social work degree with addictions experience
- Registered DAPAANZ Practitioner
- Previous experience in mental health
- Clean full NZ Drivers Licence
- Have a passion for working with the Kawerau community and surrounding areas
- Strong relationship and network management, able to develop working relationships with whānau, internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functions
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- High attention to detail
- A commitment to safe work practices
- Empathy, showing respect for clients and their whānau
- Knowledge and awareness of tikanga Māori culture and history, and an understanding of Te Reo Māori is required
