The Cardiac Physiology service is comprised of a dedicated team of Cardiac Physiologists and Cardiac Physiology Technicians who collaborate closely with physicians, administrative, and support staff to deliver high-quality, efficient, and patient-centred care for both inpatients and outpatients. Cardiac Physiologists are responsible for performing cardiac tests within their defined scope of practice, which demands extensive practical and technical expertise in understanding cardiac arrhythmias and their mechanisms. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a focus on patient care while upholding professional standards. Continuous education and training are essential to acquire and sustain the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the required competency standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Perform a range of physiological assessments including, but not limited to, ECG, pulmonary function tests, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Interpret test results and provide clinical reports to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new clinical protocols and practices.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and trainees.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and attend relevant clinical meetings.

Cardiology at Waikato Hospital includes:
- Outpatient Clinics
- Cardiac Diagnostic Testing
- Cardiac Interventional Suite, providing the following procedures:
- Coronary Angiograms.
- Left & right heart studies
- Coronary intervention and CTO
- Balloon Valvuloplasty and TAVI
- PFO/ASD/LAA Closure
- Pacing, ICD and CRT implants
- Electrophysiology Studies, 3D mapping and Ablation
Cardiac Physiology Service includes:
- Pacing/ICD follow-up service, including remote monitoring, travelling clinics and on call service
- Cath Lab, CIED Implants, TAVI and Electrophysiology
- Exercise Tolerance Testing
- Ambulatory monitoring
- Holters & BP
- Training of Provisional Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiac Physiology Technicians and other Health Care staff
We are accredited as an SCT training facility.
Please note, there is no Echo component to this role.
**About you**
As a Cardiac Clinical Physiologist, you will have:
- Current APC
- Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Technology (MTEX) or equivalent
- Certificate of Cardiac Physiology (CCP) or equivalent
- Registration with the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board
- Registration with the SCT
- Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalen
