**About this Role**
This is a dynamic winemaking leadership role at a key growth phase for the business. With current production at 6,000tn and consents for 15,000tn the Chief Marlborough Winemaker has primary responsibility and control of all aspects of the Marlborough winemaking operations supported by an existing expert team.

The core responsibilities are:

- Drive Marlborough winery team and winemaking practices throughout the winery.
- Lead winemaking flows from vine to bottle across the entire Marlborough winemaking team.
- Promote culture and wine quality, liaising with other BWG Regional Winemakers to manage demand plans and inter-winery workflows to optimise all winery cellars across the BWG winery network.
- Contribute to winemaking trials program, tasting panels and sensory assessments at Awatere River and other BWG wineries.
- Supporting planning and delivery of all BWG’s management and strategic winemaking objectives.
- Oversee laboratory and quality assurance of wines at the Awatere River Winery including WSMP, WECS, Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, FSSC22000 and local body consents.

**About Booster**
Booster Wine Group was established in 2019 and is a collection of NZ wineries, including Awatere River Wines of Marlborough, Waimea Estates and Gravity Winery of Nelson, Bannock Brae Estate of Central Otago, and Sileni Wines of Hawkes Bay. This position is based at our Awatere River Winery located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley which produces premium Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Methode sparkling wine.

**About You**
To be successful in this role you need to bring energy, enthusiasm, and proven large winery experience (preferably from the Marlborough region) to ensure the business can scale operationally at a pace and a way which preserves quality and maintains team culture.

You will also have
- A tertiary qualification in Oenology or equivalent.
- Refined sensory skills and palate for quality wine assessment.
- Commercial experience and competitive market awareness.
- Effective relationship skills to build and sustain valued networks.
- A high level of computer literacy and winemaking systems experience.
