**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role***
Our Finance & Risk team do the numbers mahi that empowers us to put our energy where it matters. In this newly created role as Assistant Accountant, you’ll help us make better decisions that bring our strategy to life by working with Technical Accounting and Tax on month-end, returns, tax compliance and advisory tasks, external statutory financial accounts and regulatory requirements, and participating in Contact’s budgeting and forecasting process. You’ll also liaise with external auditors in the completion of their review and audit of the external statutory financial accounts.
Reporting to the Technical Accounting Manager (who’s very cool), you’ll join a tight knit, fun team who are big on mentoring, approachable, always there for their people, and operate in total transparency. From a learning perspective, that’s awesome. There are heaps of growth opportunities, and in the words of the guy who could be your new boss, “It feels pretty cool to work for Contact, especially with all the different parts - we’re one company that’s doing a bunch of different stuff. Electricity generation, selling broadband; Retail business is like a billing or ICT company. There are a whole lot of different platforms that are entirely different but all within one company.”
