In 2020 we launched our cross-disciplinary Design Programme within Te Waka Tūhura Elam School of Fine Arts & Design in the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industry. This programme encompasses teaching and supervision from undergraduate to PhD. Having successfully inaugurated a new proposition for design education in Aotearoa we are now seeking additional academic staff to further build and expand the breadth and depth of staff capabilities. We are looking for passionate design experts who are equally motivated to create a space for students to explore and regenerate the world through purposeful design.

**Job Description**:
**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are seeking to appoint a permanent, full-time **Lecturer** or **Senior Lecturer** in Design to build teaching and research capacities in both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with a focus on design, creative practice and emerging technologies. We are looking for an academic who makes use of design in collaborative ways to bring about positive social, technological and environmental change. Our work seeks to address the practical, social, political and ecological impacts of different design outcomes using both digital and material technologies. We are seeking applicants capable of contributing to a vibrant teaching, research, and supervision environment.

For this academic appointment academic research and teaching experience, and at Senior Lecturer, a Doctoral level qualification, and at Lecturer, a Doctorate in progress, is essential.

This is a **Full-time, Permanent Appointment** (40 Hours Per Week).

Remuneration: L1 - L7; $86,979 - $103,904 or SL 1-5; $110,579 - $125,030.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You will have professional, tertiary teaching and/or research experience in design or related creative practice, with interest in emerging technology - for example, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Blockchain, Internet of Things and/or Robotics. Your portfolio of work will demonstrate specialist design capabilities and transdisciplinary practice. For example, you may be involved in kaupapa Māori design frameworks, specialised creative practice, design strategy, innovation, community-centred education, culturally responsive design, design for sustainability, design pedagogy, development, situated and interactive learning, human-computer interaction, technology studies, transdisciplinary and collaborative design, or UX. You will have led design or creative practice projects and have good links with industry and related professions.

Above all else, you will be passionate about innovative, collaborative and transdisciplinary design, with deep consideration for supporting students to develop their own set of skills to flourish in and regenerate the world they find themselves in.
