Right
now, we are seeking a Privacy Advisor to join Te Whatu Ora, based in Timaru and
with a focus on supporting people in South Canterbury.
This
role is part of the Government Relationship, Partnerships and Risk team and
collectively supports the interface between Te Whatu Ora, Government and the
wider state sector.
The
Privacy Advisor is responsible for providing timely, high-quality advice and
support to all teams within Te Whatu Ora to ensure that personal and health
information in our care is safe and handled appropriately. Key result areas for
the roles includes investigation and resolution of privacy complaints, breaches
and incidents and is involved in the root cause analysis of privacy breaches.
There is also a compliance and risk responsibility along with an educational
component and liason with government agencies.

The
ideal person will have the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
along with the ability to work independently
and collaboratively.
Other
factors that will contribute to success in this role includes;
- A keen interest

in privacy and solid understanding of the Privacy Act 2020 and Health
Information Privacy Code 2020
- Sound analytical
skills and attention to detail with an ability to work with
information
- Can think on
your feet, make sound judgements and escalate issues when required
- Work to
deadlines
- Ability to
maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Knowledge of
government structures and processes including the obligation of the Crown
