We have a rare opportunity for a full-time ICU specialist to join our team in Wellington, New Zealand - s capital city.

We are a large ICU providing 24/7 tertiary Intensive Care for a population of over 1 million people in the centre of the country. A new 12-bed HDU will soon open, increasing our capacity to 36 staffed critical care beds, with 4 more ICU beds planned to open within the next 5 years, along with new non-clinical areas. The over 2000 patients we admit each year are diverse. We work with cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, paediatric, cardiology, haematology, spinal and other specialist surgeons to provide care to the sickest patients in the lower North and upper South Islands.

Annual leave is 6 weeks per year and covered internally. We expect you to take a 3 month paid sabbatical every 6 years.

Our team of 300 includes 14 ICU specialists, 27 ICU RMOs (including 5 Fellows), bedside ICU nurses, Patient At Risk nurses, flight nurses, nurse educators, physiotherapists and pharmacists. The opportunity for part-time work is available, as is job-sharing with other specialities. The successful applicant would contribute equally to the out-of-hours on-call roster, irrespective of their work in-hours. The job is appropriately job-sized for the workload and includes additional pro-rata payments for full-time equivalency.

**Moū - About you**
- Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) or be within 12 months of obtaining this
- Vocational registration or eligibility for vocational registration in Intensive Care Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Ability to provide respectful and culturally safe care to a diverse patient group
- Work within multidisciplinary teams
- Able to provide consistently high standards of intensive care
- Relevant experience and training
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the clinical directors to progress service goals
- Provide a supportive educational environment in which to train medical staff, nursing staff, and medical students in Intensive Care Medicine
