About the role
We're looking for Physical Security Advisors to join our passionate, high-performing team where your expertise will directly impact the safety and resilience of critical New Zealand Government facilities. As a Physical Security Advisor, you will provide comprehensive physical security advice and guidance in line with the Protective Security Requirements (PSR) to internal and external customers. You will:
Advise on the design and installation of physical security systems.
Undertake physical security certification reviews of highly classified areas.
Evaluate physical security products for protecting highly classified information.
Assess, document and present on physical security considerations, as well as helping to develop and improve the security culture across the public sector.

**Appointing range**:
**Level 1 position**: $73,684 - $78,596
**Level 2 position**: $87,048 - $92,851
Who we're looking for
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who can work both independently and in a team of like-minded practitioners.
You will have experience in one or more of the following technical professions:
Building construction
Electronic security systems (including access control and alarms)
Locks
Deep expert understanding and experience required for Level 2 position.
**You will also have**:
Strong problem solving skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
Experience in the design, installation and commissioning of systems/solutions in chosen technical profession(s)
Highly effective written communication skills, for both technical and non-technical customers
Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
Proven understanding of protective security principles and practices, including Protective Security Requirements and Technical Notes (For Level 2 position)
Experience in successful implementation of physical security in a NZ Government secure facility would be helpful but not required.
An enquiring mind with the ability to challenge the status quo will be key to succeeding in this role.
A willingness to undertake both domestic and international travel and a full NZ driver's license are also requirements of the role.

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
**You must**:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
