We are strengthening our mechanical maintenance team working on industrial, hydropower and geothermal projects. As a Fitter / Machinist with us, you’ll enjoy getting out to a variety of client sites, working with a close-knit team and taking pride in a job well done.

**You**:
You’re cool under pressure, don’t sweat the small stuff and are able to think outside the box to support your team to deliver results for our clients. Not afraid to be working out in the elements, confined spaces, heights or heavy lifting you’ll also be comfortable working on the fly to meet a challenge. If you like real variety and have a flexible approach you’ll thrive in this reactive role where you’ll go where you’re needed when you’re needed and are also able to turn your hand to fitting tasks to help your team get their mahi done on time, or early, to impress our clients.

With a background in a machine shop that offers out-work or field machining experience, you’ll fit right in if you offer:

- Level 4 trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering plus Machinist/ Toolmaker
- Machinery/plant maintenance experience working on heavy rotating plant
- Line boring experience
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safe working practices and quality procedures
- Flexibility to work extended and flexible hours as and when required - including periodic work outside of Taupo
- Beneficial if you have some fabrication experience and knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems

This is an autonomous role where you’ll manage your time to best support our projects and work teams. We are looking for a skilled tradesperson, who enjoys sharing their knowledge and experience to develop others.

**The Role**:
You will be part of an experienced team working on the installation, maintenance and overhaul of geothermal and hydro power stations. You’ll be delivering field machining solutions to support our site mechanical maintenance fitters. Based at our Wairakei site your work could be in our workshops but more often out on client sites often in remote locations, including:

- General machining
- Using lathes, mills
- Portable line boring jobs from head cover to bottom ring in hydro turbines.
- Measurements, ITRs & ITPs
- Fitting tasks including work on turbines, heavy rotating equipment, cranage, valves, pumps, fans, heat exchangers etc
- Portable/ In situ Milling
- Automatic bore welding
