Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders. The positions sit within Te Aromātai Whakatutukitanga | System and Agency Performance Group which supports the Commission's vision and objectives for the public service by ensuring we have strong leadership and governance of public service and public sector agencies.
**Our work includes**:
- supporting the appointment of world class leaders to Secretary and Chief Executive positions in our public service.
- understanding the performance of the system and agencies.
- providing support for Secretaries and Chief Executives to be successful in their roles, in their careers, and in their broader lives.
- providing guidance and support to enhance the monitoring and governance of Crown entities.
As an Advisor in the Chief Executive Appointment, Development and Remuneration (CEDAR) Team you will be closely involved in the appointment of Public Service Secretaries and Chief Executives. This is one of the key functions of the Public Service Commission, with the CEDAR Team supporting the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners in making critical decisions through the appointment process. You will get to experience, and contribute to, the wide breadth of exciting work being led right across the System and Agency Performance Group (SAPG).
You will also manage the day-to-day Chief Executive Recruitment Inbox and answer questions and queries relating to payroll, wellbeing and annual leave. Your role will provide ad-hoc support to the Commission's succession program and work alongside the Senior Advisor responsible for all Chief Executive remuneration matters.
In this role, you will work with experienced leaders to build a more diverse and inclusive Public Service. You will also get exposure to a wide range of issues impacting the direction and performance of the Public Service and Public Service agencies.
Through your work, you will make an important contribution towards creating a leading edge, unified, trusted public service that serves Aotearoa. Your strong relationship management skills will enable you to build trusted relationships with senior leaders across the Public Service.

Experience in Policy, or HR/Recruitment/Organisational Design/Remuneration advisory is desirable, but not essential. We are open to hearing from individuals that could bring a range of skills to the role.
The Advisor role usually pays between $73,300 to $85,800 depending on skills and experience.
