Telecommunications Technician

**About the Role**

This role encompasses the tasks of the IP Fault Technician, Telecommunication Technician (Cellular and Radio Transmission), and Inside / Outside Plant Cable Installer. Suitable applicants must be available to work on a 24/7 call out roster and be able to travel in New Zealand. Working in outage time may require working overnight on weekdays, and day/night work on weekends (including Sunday).

Working as part of the Digital Network Infrastructure Group, your key responsibilities are installing, repairing and maintaining telecommunication transmission equipment, cabling and switching equipment inside client premises (including SDH, PDH and IP based Telephony), radio and cellular transmission equipment within the NZ telecommunications network (DMR, Cellular, Paging, Microwave systems, Telemetry and CCTV), and installation, commissioning and repair of appropriate data cabling. Other duties include:

- Provide basic IP support
- Horizontal and vertical cabling (installing and replacing fibre and data cables, splicing, terminations and using testing equipment on cables)
- Installation and commissioning of radio equipment
- Identifying of Transmission/Radio/IP faults and repairing or replacing faulty equipment
- Complying with Company, HSEQ (and Client) policies, procedures and standards to achieve a safe workplace with mínimal impact to the environment and community
- Improving service deliver within scope of control

**What’s on Offer**
- A competitive hourly rate ($34 - $38 dependant on skills and experience).
- Minimum 40 hours per week (7.30am - 4pm including half hour unpaid lunch break)
- Call out rates (rostered/unrostered) standby day rate $29.13 Monday to Friday and $43.70 weekends and public holidays
- $90 per night living out allowance is paid if you required to stay away from home (accommodation costs are covered by Ventia)

**About You**
- Telecommunications technician qualifications (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Fibre splicing experience
- Knowledge of Radio technology equipment - DMR, Cellular, Microwave
- Knowledge of ITC technology - CCNA, ISO
- Knowledge of structural cabling copper and fibre
- Strong team player with good computer skills and an effective communicator
