It works in close collaboration with the Improvement Systems and Technology group to support organisational transformation and deliver modern technology and security capabilities. With a redesigned operating model, they have multi-disciplinary teams that focus on delivering the future needs of MSD in a SAFe Agile environment.

**Te tūranga - The role**:
As the newly established Director Technology Security and Identity, you will play a pivotal role in designing the operating model for our Ministry's cyber security and identity functions. Leading a team of experts, you will be instrumental in uplifting the Technology Security and Identity Practice, including Architecture and Engineering, and establish its prominence within the organisation. This position will look beyond today, introduce appropriate emerging security and identity technologies in partnership with colleagues, suppliers, and partners, implement strategies that support enabling security and identity controls and will focus on improving the cyber security and identity posture in alignment with MSD’s transformation.
**Ngā takohanga - responsibilities**:
- Lead the establishment and uplift of the Technology Security Practice, including Architecture and Engineering, to ensure the highest level of security standards.
- Design and implement the operating model for the cyber security and identity functions, as MSD’s ITSM (Information Technology Security Manager).
- Harness your strong leadership experience to drive excellence across people, delivery, and technology domains.
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for cyber security and identity, aligning it with our organisation's transformational journey.
- Collaborate closely with the General Manager Information and the Group General Manager Improvement Systems and Technology to ensure the Technology Security Practice integrates seamlessly with MSD'’s strategic direction.
- Oversee the execution of effective security operations and incident management, enhancing the Ministry'’s resilience against cyber risks.
- Foster a culture of security awareness and proactively implement innovative countermeasures for cyber security and identity.
- Collaborate strategically to leverage outsourced resources while maintaining a strong in-house capability, to ensure continuous foundational growth.
- Embedding and building on Te Ao Māori within your leadership role.
- Create the conditions for Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all decisions to ensure Te Pae Tata is delivered and embedded in your business group.
**Nōu te rourou - what you will bring**:
- Tertiary degree level qualification or industry certifications in a relevant discipline and/or substantial professional experience.
- Proven track record of strong leadership across people, delivery, and technology.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing security practices and frameworks in large and complex environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in ITSM (Information Technology Security Manager) and NZISM (New Zealand Information Security Manual) responsibilities.
- In-depth understanding of security architecture and engineering principles.
- Previous experience leading in Agile environments, underpinned by the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Established relationships within the industry and sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of policy, products, and services implementation, with a focus on government machinery.
- Outstanding relationship building and management skills at all levels.
- Commitment to embedding and building on Te Ao
