**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
Join our innovative Department of Mechanical Engineering as a Workshop Technician. This pivotal role involves manufacturing parts and assemblies to support a variety of teaching and research projects, contributing to the academic and research excellence that defines our institution.
As a Workshop Technician, your duties will include:
- Collaborate with the Workshop Team Leader to stay updated on current and upcoming jobs.
- Work with staff and suppliers to procure materials and tooling needed for projects.
- Operate workshop equipment such as lathes, mills, drills, and welders to produce parts and assemblies in line with provided drawings and specifications.
- Communicate with students and academic staff, offering practical advice on manufacturing parts and assemblies.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing challenges as they arise during projects.
- Promoting and contributing to UC's commitment to Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all, adhering to University policies, and taking responsibility for prompt action when required.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
Bringing your extensive experience in a workshop environment, operating a range of manufacturing equipment, you will hold an Advanced Trade Certificate (NZQA Level 5) and a First Aid certificate and have:
- Extensive experience in a workshop environment, operating a wide range of manufacturing equipment.
- First Aid certification.
- A strong commitment to upholding cultural values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules), and traditions, as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri.
- Demonstrated experience working within a secondary or tertiary education practical workshop
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety rules and regulations.
