**Korero mo te turanga - About the role** Senior Advisors are also responsible for assessing and providing advice on overseas investment risk, this can include national interest and national security risk. Doing this often requires engagement with a range of other NZ government agencies, which is why the role will be based in Wellington. Senior Advisors are required to clearly present their analysis and recommendations to decision-makers (including Ministers), applicants, and the wider public. Senior Advisors are also expected to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to overall improvements of our system and regulatory regime. **He pukenga tou - Skills & Experience** - To succeed in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary degree in law, economics, commerce, accounting, or prior experience in a relevant field. - You will be experienced in providing advice in complex regulatory settings and being able to see the "bigger picture" is beneficial. - You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills aligned with strong relationship management skills to support you in confidently interacting with investors, their advisors and colleagues from across the NZ Government system, including our intelligence and security agencies. - You will have an enquiring mind with the ability to identify key issues and a range of risks from complex, legal and commercial information. - An understanding on the machinery of government would be beneficial as would prior exposure to our national security system. - You will either have or will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret national security clearance.
