**Are you passionate about research and eager to make a difference?** We are on the lookout for two enthusiastic Research Assistants to join our vibrant team for the 2025 Unitec Early Career Research Project. This is your chance to dive into exciting fieldwork, gather crucial data, and support groundbreaking research under the guidance of Dr. Soheil Varastehpour.

**Abou the Project**:
The aim of this research is to develop an accessible and affordable platform and prototype that empowers farmers, particularly those operating grape and apple orchards, to leverage advanced technology for improved agricultural practices. By focusing on the integration of cutting-edge deep learning algorithms for image processing and computer vision, this project seeks to facilitate early disease detection and real-time classification of various diseases affecting crops.

**What You'll Do**:

- **Embark on Field Research Adventures**:Conduct field research to achieve our ambitious project goals.
- **Data Detective**:Gather, process, and analyse relevant data to uncover new insights.
- **Support the Research Journey**:Provide essential administrative and research support to Dr. Varastehpour.
- **Be a Research Rockstar**:Participate in research paper/project preparation, literature review, and report writing.
- **Keep It Organised**:Maintain clear, complete, and current data records.

**What We're Looking For**:

- A relevant qualification in the research field (preferably Master or higher degree)
- Knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts; familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn is a plus
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python; experience with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, etc.
- Excellent in SQL or MySQL
- Experience with Excel or Power BI for designing dashboards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
