Auckland Council’s Parks, Sport and Recreation department has an opportunity for a Summer Gardener within the Horticulture Team based at Auckland Botanic Gardens. This is a great opportunity to follow your passion for plants which will provide you with relevant career experience through the summer months at Auckland Botanic Gardens.

Day-to-day you could expect to:

- Work alongside Botanic Gardens staff to manage and maintain the plant collections and amenity gardens
- Help ensure the plant collections and amenity gardens meet agreed presentation standards
- Learn more about plants, their cultivation and how the worlds of garden design, conservation and horticultural science intersect
- Help provide support to the Botanic Gardens nursery, trials, visitor services and botanical services staff

If you are currently studying or have studied in the field of horticulture or have an interest in plants, nature and the outdoors, then we want to hear from you

We will be looking for someone with specific experience in:

- Horticulture - basic practical horticulture skills, a passion for plants, working outside and a thirst for learning more about horticulture and botanic gardens
- Have excellent verbal skills for communicating with a diverse range of visitors to the Botanic Gardens
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
