**_ Permanent Position (0.4 FTE) Wednesday and Friday_**

Are you ready for an exciting role within the General Surgery Service? Here’s your opportunity to join a fantastic team and make a real difference to our patients’ journey.

The Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and facilitation of individual patient pathways across the primary, secondary and tertiary care interface, establishing effective working relationships with regional members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients, their families and care givers. To be successful in this role you will be:

- Able to use advanced communication, clinical knowledge and applied reasoning to ensure optimal patient care during their cancer pathway.
- Able to work actively, in partnership, with the medical, nursing and allied health staff across the care continuum to ensure safe, patient focussed care.
- A self-directed team player who will be responsible for working closely with clinical and management staff in order to coordinate management of the process through the cancer patient pathway from high suspicion to first treatment date.
- Possess a flexible can-do attitude, a passion for innovation, a high level of attention to detail, and a focus on providing quality patient focused outcomes.

**Requirements**:

- Registered Nurse with the NZ Nursing Council
- Valid annual practicing certificate
- Proficient nurse with 5+ years relevant nursing experience post registration
- Completed or undertaking post graduate study in relevant area
- General Surgery nursing experience preferred
