**Our Organisation**:
The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS)'s mission is to keep New Zealand and New Zealanders safe and secure. We collect and analyse intelligence in line with the Government's priorities to provide decision makers with sound national security advice. We also provide a range of protective security services to other government agencies.
We are on the hunt for experienced and highly competent Software Engineers with the necessary 'tight-lipped' skills to get amongst enhancing Aotearoa's national security. You will work for a national organisation with diverse, talented, and committed individuals who are anything but ordinary - creating a safer environment for all New Zealanders.

**About the Role**:
You will work in a team focussed on systems that are critical to the enablement of the NZSIS mission. The position will focus on:

- All things data. You will ensure that others have the tools and data they need to operate effectively, and that sensitive NZSIS equities are managed to a high standard.
- Taking ownership of the end-to-end development lifecycle. This will involve working closely with your engineering peers, project teams & stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs and develop excellent solutions.

In addition to looking for full time staff, we also have opportunities for a 12 month fixed term contract to provide surge capacity on an exciting new data project. (Please let us know whether you are interested in a fulltime position, fixed term or both).

**About You**:
**To excel in this role, you will**:

- Be a highly skilled and competent software engineering expert, with energy, initiative, and the ability to work constructively with others to drive complex initiatives forward.
- Have exceptional skills and experience with a range of modern technologies and processes, in particular Java, CI/CD flows, testing and automation, and micro-service architecture.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Javascript/ReactJS, information architecture and ontologies, or Azure/AWS would be highly desirable.
- Be able to contribute to the technical design of software systems and can troubleshoot technical issues.
- Be a continuous learner, and always interested in the opportunities that emerging technologies could provide.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work closely with technical and non-technical people. You will understand the foremost need to focus on delivering value.
