Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

**About us**

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we're evolving as an organisation - growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.

**About the role**

We are looking for an experienced Quantitative Analyst to join our Monitoring team, within the wider Legal, Monitoring and Compliance group. You will join a high-performing team that delivers great outcomes, and is collaborative, flexible, and supportive. You will have great opportunities to work with smart people on interesting, challenging, and meaningful regulatory projects.

As a Quantitative Analyst, you will have analytical and critical thinking skills, the willingness to operate in an environment of continuous improvement and learning, as well as relevant post graduate qualification. You will be able to utilise relationship management skills to work across all parts of the Authority as well as the wider industry, consumers and stakeholders, and the team itself to achieve great outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to provide appropriate advice, analysis, and written papers applicable to your level of experience.

**Are you someone with the following?**
- A relevant qualification in engineering, physics, statistics, mathematics, or economics
- The ability to undertake and interpret quantitative analysis, with experience in SQL, R, or Python
- Ability to think analytically and critically while mitigating analytical and decision-making biases
- Are curious, flexible, and open to integrating ideas, information, and differing perspectives
- The willingness and ability to learn about the industry, and use of different data analysis and programming tools

**Why work for us?**
- We support a healthy work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our teams
- A 3% net contribution to your KiwiSaver
- Flexible working options
- Ongoing training, support, and professional development to help you grow
- Opportunities for career advancement
- A range of health, wellbeing, and social initiatives including wellbeing and working from home allowances, access to Habit Health and EAP services for you and your whanau
- Regular social events to connect with colleagues across the year
