- Key reponsibilities;- Take direction from Maintenance Manager, Rooms Division Manager and/or General Manager as well as maintaining a proactive approach.
- Respond to and carry out all inter departmental or guest requests concerning defects, repairs and / or general assistance in a timely manner, according to priority. When defects or repairs are outside your capabilities, communicate this to the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
- General duties may include, but is not limited to cleaning, painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, sanitation stations etc.
- Preventative duties may include, but is not limited to paint touch ups, checking card reader batteries, cleaning air con filters, ensuring that electrical appliances are in working order and safe to use, checking alarm systems are working correctly, testing fire dampers etc.
- Log all defects, work and/or repairs carried out in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure that all equipment (grinders, tools, machinery) is used for its intended purpose, kept cleaned, well maintained and kept safe.
- Have an understanding of BWOF (Building Warrant of Fitness) and Compliance Requirements, ensuring that all possible measures are taken to maintain this.
- Have an understanding of the building systems, including but not limited to water, sewerage, waste management, electrical, HVAC systems etc.
- Follow the hotel policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals to ensure compliance, safety and profitability.
- Give assistance and support to other departments and/or colleagues when needed.
- Be a brand ambassador for the hotel as well as Event Hospitality & Entertainment.
- Attend all scheduled meetings.
- Participate in scheduled training and development programs.

- Skills & experience- Previous experience in a similar Maintenance/ handy man role
- Trustworthy, punctual and a positive attitude.
- Physical fitness to cope with a labour-intensive operation.
