We are currently recruiting a Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs Coordinator who has the ability to work effectively with young people across a broad range of stakeholders and demographics in the local work-readiness and employment sector.

The Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs Coordinator will develop and facilitate the planning, delivery and evaluation of the Waimakariri Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs youth work readiness and employment programme through:

- Championing the value of employing young people.
- Engagement and support for local work-readiness organisations
- Facilitation of initiatives that address gaps in local work-readiness &life skills programmes.
- Engagement and support for local employers to facilitate sustainable employment for local young people.
- Engagement with local young people seeking employment to identify and address gaps in work readiness and link them into appropriate programmes and supports.
- Support for young people and their employers through the first six months of their employment journey.

In line with the 'Developing Young People' strand of Waimakariri Youth Strategy 2018, this role centres on the coordination of a collaborative approach to empowering young people and others into sustainable employment.

To be successful in this position you will demonstrate significant experience in:

- Working to a community-led model
- Networking
- Community Engagement
- Facilitating groups, including organising and running meetings
- Project planning and evaluation
- Social and on-line media
- Working across a range of sectors, including business, social and community,
- Working with people from a diverse range of cultural, socio-economic, age and values-based demographics

We are looking for self-motivated people who are able to motivate others and encourage innovative thinking to generate solutions to issues and opportunities related to youth unemployment. Your ability to build rapport and influence will compliment your excellent communication skills. You will need to be well organised and able to manage a varied portfolio to achieve timely outcomes. You will be able to work well as part of a team.

It would be advantageous to have had active involvement in working with youth and or the business sector. Being passionate and willing to bring energy and enthusiasm will definitely be a plus
