The Waitemata Central Team oversee the patient flow for North Shore and Waitakere Hospital, along with resource management for both sites and Emergency Management response when required. Within this service is the Transit Nurse Service who provide patient care while transiting between hospitals within the greater Auckland area and between departments at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. The Transit Manager is a new role that will be looking at developing continuous improvement to systems and processes to adopt new ways of working in line with current technology improvements and reporting systems, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Management of the team of transit nurses is part of this role, including recruitment, retention and ensuring safe patient transfers.
You will be responsible for planning and implementing transportation strategies for the organisation in relation to patient transfers. You will look at the hospitals transport workload, including both planned and urgent transfers for Waitemata and ensure efficient usage and areas for improving. Working with outside transport providers for patients you will ensure that Waitemata's transportation needs are met while ensuring cost effective solutions. This will mean ensuring cost effective transit models - including transport contracts and transiting workforce, to meet Waitemata's needs within a financially sustainable framework.
You will have been working in Clinical Management roles previously and be able to contribute effectively in achieving service objectives and performance targets.
