At Palmerston Pak’nSave we have a unique opportunity for someone with the leadership capability to run several fresh foods departments combined. This role will look after three business units, Butchery, Bakery, Seafood and Delicatessen. This means we are looking for an individual who has extensive knowledge in one or all these areas.
Please note all of these departments have strong Managers in place.
To be successful in the role we are looking for the four key management functions to be second nature to you. Relationship management is also critical to this role, as the successful applicant you will have to work across several internal business units ensuring we provide quality fresh foods to our customers.
You will ensure through effective management of these departments the store is able to maximize sales and achieve specified profit margins. The role is responsible for ensuring that our customers receive an outstanding shopping experience.
The Key responsibilities for this role will be as follows:
- Coordinate the procurement across all departments to ensure we meet the demands of the business, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor all compliance aspects of the departments with a particular focus on Food Safety and Health & Safety systems.
- Monitoring rostering to ensure adequate staffing levels are always maintained and that the department keeps in line with wage percentage targets.
- In conjunction with HR Manager ensure succession plan is in place for all key roles within the departments and ensure all staff are aware of development opportunities available to them as well as insuring team reviews are carried out within timelines.
- Ensure sales and GP targets for the departments are met / exceeded and that labour costs are controlled appropriately through effective management of the departments. Monitor sales and create opportunities to increase on last year.
- Ensure 100% price integrity is maintained in the department.
- Solid fresh food experience in several fresh food areas, ideally Seafood, Delicatessen and Bakery.
- SAP experience would be a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrate an elevated level of organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking. Demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- To be considered for this role, you must hold New Zealand citizenship, New Zealand Permanent Residency, or a valid New Zealand Work Permit.
