Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Lab Technician to work in one of New Zealand's leading regional bacteriological water-testing and analysis laboratories.

**About the role**:
The purpose of the Laboratory Technician role is to perform quality testing in accordance with approved test methods and standard operating procedures and to support and assist the Senior Laboratory Technician and other Laboratory Technicians.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform various routine activities such as sample testing and equipment calibrations and ensuring these activities are performed with no deviations
- Operate laboratory equipment and ensure it is maintained to standard
- Ensure all quality control procedures are followed within specified timeframes and records are kept to ensure compliance with the quality management system
- Ensure all results are correct and all testing is performed within scope, to a high standard and results are accurately recorded, validated and reported in eQual
- Provide direct support to the Laboratory Team Leader and other Laboratory Technicians
- Assist in keeping laboratory testing clean and tidy

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- A relevant Science qualification such as a Diploma or Degree
- At least 2 years microbiology experience
- The ability and attitude to work towards achieving Key Technical Personnel (KTP) status
- An understanding of NZ ISO/IEC 17025:2018
- Experience in MS Office suite with a minimum intermediate Excel
