**What You Will Do**
The successful applicant will contribute to interdisciplinary, research-informed teaching and diverse research agendas that engage with contemporary theory. The School of Educational Studies and Leadership (EDSL) values align with those of the University; whanaungatanga, tiakitanga and manaakitanga and underpin the School's culture and our orientation to teaching and research. The successful applicant will teach into the School's undergraduate and postgraduate awards. At undergraduate level this includes the Bachelor of Arts in Education (BA Education) and the innovative Bachelor of Youth and Community Leadership (BYCL). Postgraduate teaching may include the Post Graduate Diploma of Youth and Community Leadership (PGDipYCL) and/or the Masters of Education Leadership Endorsement (MEd Leadership).
**Skills and Knowledge**
Applicants are normally required to have a doctoral degree in Education or other relevant discipline. Applicants with relevant experience who are willing to work towards a doctoral degree are also encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will have:
- relevant and successful tertiary teaching experience, including experience developing future leaders from the education youth and community sector;
- theoretical understanding of learning and development theories in educational or community leadership settings to understand practices;
- ability to develop and lead undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of educational leadership and/ or community engagement.
- a research programme, publication history and plans for future research in an area relevant to the areas of scholarship related to educational/ community youth development and other related fields, and consistent with appointment at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer rank;
- demonstrable knowledge, expertise, and commitment to biculturalism to advance UC's commitment to equity, particularly for Māori and Pasifika students. Ability in te reo Māori me āna tikanga would be an advantage;
the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with, and beyond, the EDSL team,and;
- successful experience in thesis supervision at masters and doctoral level or demonstrated capacity to supervise research students effectively.
The successful applicant will have knowledge and experience of the education system in Aotearoa New Zealand.
