Chief Advisor

Kapiti Coast District Council is a local government council that is tasked with leading and promoting the social, economic, environmental, and cultural wellbeing of the Kapiti Coast. The council is constantly looking to enhance the thriving environment of Kapiti, strengthen the economy and the communities who they serve.

The Strategy and Growth Group role is to support the Council’s strategic initiatives, helping to develop new ideas and work programs.

The Chief Advisor will be in a key position within this team, working closely with the Group Manager and providing managerial coverage across the team as well as leading the Council’s recovery work related to emergency events. Other key elements of the role include:
Major role in developing the Group and Council’s strategies and direction.
- Development of frameworks and advice to support the maintenance and enhancement of national and regional relationships.
- Provision of high-quality advice on issues impacting the Council and Group.
- Management and delivery of key projects including regional priorities, housing and growth.

To be effective in this role you will need to have the following profile:

- A background in policy, economics, or local government with proven management experience.
- Experience in implementing change strategies and cross-organization programmes of work.
- Proven background in building and maintaining high quality relationships across a range of organisations and groups.
- Demonstrated experience in “systems thinking” at local, regional and national level.
