Catering Assistant

We have an opportunity for a courteous and reliable individual who enjoys interacting with the elderly and making their day by serving amazing meals. This rewarding position is based at Shalom Court - Boutique Home and Hospital in Meadowbank Auckland. The aged care facility is based on Jewish values and practices, offering premium rest home, hospital and palliative accommodation.

The Role:
Rostered on a Monday to Friday you will be working between 11:30am-5:30pm (27.5 hours a week).

The afternoon/evening shift works unsupervised to serve the evening meal after the chef has finished for the day so requires someone who can take initiative, problem solve, and keep on top of the different quantities and dietary requirements of residents. You will also be in charge of making sure the kitchen is left sparkly and clean for the next day.
- be friendly and engaging with a flexible, committed, can-do attitude,
- support our talented chefs by keeping the kitchen clean and doing dishes,
- be able to work safely in a commercial kitchen with large hot pots and trays,
- be able to follow instructions to prepare and serve delicious and wholesome meals.
- be an exceptional team player who is able to take responsibility and work unsupervised.
- have a practical understanding of New Zealand Food Control and safety regulations.
- have good time management skills.
