Lifeguard Coordinator

Ocean Spa is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Lifeguard Coordinator. In this crucial role, you will oversee the safety and well-being of our guests and staff around the pool and other water facilities.

As Lifeguard Coordinator, you will manage day-to-day operations and activities by actively supervising and coordinating Pool Lifeguards and aquatic programs. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the highest standards of safety, communication, and service at all times. At the start of each shift, you will communicate relevant operational information, ensure team members are prepared, complete the start and end of day checklists, and participate in or lead training sessions as needed.

**Your main responsibilities will include**:

- Supervising the activities of pool users to ensure they are safe and appropriate
- Responding to emergencies
- Actively deal with complaints or conflicts in a professional manner
- As required, act as Duty Manager for the facility. This involves having the delegated authority to operate the facility and make operational decisions as required
- Ensuring legislative requirements and all operational policies and procedures are met
- Participating in the performance management process for lifeguards within the team.
- Support team members to learn and perform water testing and plant monitoring procedures as required
- Contribute to centre improvement and change initiatives and improvements as required

**To be successful in this role you will have the following skills**:

- Senior Pool Lifeguard Level 3 or equivalent
- PLPC lifeguard qualifications (unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402)
- Current First Aid certificate
- Ability to lead, motivate and provide direction to your team
- Demonstrated competence to run a shift
- Interpersonal communication and relationship management skills essential
- Able to deal with conflict situations and difficult people and negotiate solutions
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays and school holidays
