Butchery Specialist

We’re on the hunt for a Butchery Specialist to join the team and call upon your technical and operational expertise to add value to our stores across the **Lower North Island.**

**About the role**

As a Butchery Specialist, you’ll identify opportunities, strengths, priorities and development needs within the Butchery Department of our supermarkets. You’ll then coach and mentor Butchery Managers and their teams through both hands on in department work and distance support across your portfolio to promote excellence in category performance and deliver growth in our butchery offering. You’ll also work as part of a Butchery Specialist team on projects, delivering strategy, new concepts and innovation.

There is frequent travel required for this role where you are away from your home base area for days at a time.

**About you**

With a passion for meat and an operational awareness of retail butchery, you’ll have a good knowledge of meat varieties, trends and cuts, including value add creation such as sausage making. Having worked previously a butcher or having run a butchery, you’ll also have:

- Good commercial acumen
- An understanding of retail and a knack for finding solutions that will set you up for success
- Confident ability to build relationships
- Strong communication skills, good time management and will be comfortable working autonomously
