**Te āheinga: The Opportunity**
As a Counsellor, you will provide professional and effective personal counselling services to students at Unitec. Your role will involve helping students resolve issues, set goals, and develop strategies to achieve their academic and personal potential. With your extensive experience in counselling within educational or social service settings, you will quickly build rapport and trust with students. This will enable you to actively contribute to the implementation of Student Wellbeing initiatives and projects at Unitec.
This is a 0.6 FTE permanent position (22.5 hours per week). For more details, please refer to the Position Description.
**He kōrero mōu: About You**
You will have:
- An understanding or willingness to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori.
- Evidence of active engagement in creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable environments.
- Experience in providing counselling services in educational or social service settings.
- Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds and handling a broad range of issues, including risk assessment and intervention.
- A Postgraduate or Master's qualification acceptable to the NZAC (or equivalent) and full membership of NZAC (or equivalent).
