**Job Overview**: As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will support the smooth running of our production processes, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery production lines and the precise customization and execution of bespoke cabinetry projects. The Mechanical Engineering Technician will work closely with our product designers and other technical staff to prepare and execute detailed production plans, maintain machinery, and ensure that all work meets our high standards for quality and safety.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Production Support and Machinery Operation**:
- Assist in preparing drawings, plans, and designs for modification of manufacturing under the direction of product designers.
- Operate and maintain CNC mechanical panel cutting machines, laser edge banding machines, and other production equipment.
- Select appropriate tools, equipment, and materials required for various cabinetry projects.
- **Assembly, Customization and Installation**:
- Assemble and install custom cabinetry, including new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, and systems.
- Ensure all installations are completed to the highest quality standards and comply with design specifications.
- **Material and Cost Estimation**:
- Estimate material costs, quantities, and machine requirements for production projects.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of materials and components.
- **Testing and Quality Control**:
- Conduct tests on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Collect and analyze data from tests, perform computations, and prepare diagrams to assist in continual optimizing of production processes.
- Organize and supervise the inspection and maintenance of machines and plant equipment.
- **Compliance and Safety**:
- Ensure that all designs and finished work adhere to specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment, following all relevant health and safety guidelines.
- **Collaboration and Continuous Improvement**:
- Work closely with product designers, production staff, and management to identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions.
**Qualifications**:
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Proven experience working with CNC machines, laser edge banding machines, and other mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
