Whakarongorau Aotearoa has the privilege of running free to the public, virtual health, mental health, and social services for the people of Aotearoa.
Our 12 clinical teams and support services are based across contact centres in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and from their homes across Aotearoa.

**Atu mo te mahi - About the role**
The Family and Sexual Harm Professional role provides advice and support to service users and their whānau including but not limited to the Shine Helpline, Family Violence Information Line, Elder Abuse Response Service, NZDF4U Helpline, Family Services Directory Helpline and Safe to Talk/ Kōrero mai ka ora. Lines are operational seven days a week, including Public Holidays.
You will be working evening shifts 11pm - 7:30am; full-time or part-time applicants are welcome to apply.
This role is based in either our Auckland or Christchurch offices however we are open to discussing work from home or hybrid options for suitably experienced applicants.
Your role will involve the following aspects:
- Risk assessment followed by appropriate safety planning and referrals
- Providing non-judgemental support and psychoeducation within the context of family and sexual harm
- Supporting callers when they are experiencing a high-risk situation
- Communicating with external agencies (including emergency services)
- Accurate documentation of notes and relevant information on various databases
- Supporting other team members in the Family and Sexual Harm team during risk calls / risk engagements and providing de-briefing support where needed
- Participating in quality improvement and service developments to ensure effective and safe service delivery
- Supporting the Family and Sexual Harm team and providing overflow support as required
**Pehea koe - About you**
- Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, mental health nursing, psychotherapy, occupational therapy
- Registration with one of the following professional bodies: Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW), New Zealand Association of Counsellors / Te Roopu Kaiwhiriwhi Aotearoa (NZAC), Addictions Practitioners' Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ), New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA)
- For Safe to Talk, three + years' experience in a Trauma, Sexual Violence and Mental Health role
