The Public Defence Service (PDS) is looking for a motivated and experienced criminal litigator to take up the role of Lawyer PAL1 at our busy central Auckland office. Reporting to a Legal team Manager you will:

- Deliver high quality defence representation to legally aided clients.
- Manage a varied caseload of criminal matters.
- Provide support to intermediate and senior lawyers.

**Ō** pūkenga/Skills and Experience**

To be successful you must be passionate about criminal justice issues and:

- have a PAL 1 approval level and be qualified to practice law in New Zealand
- have confidence in your ability to develop credibility with judges, peers and others in the legal community
- enjoy sharing legal expertise, exchanging ideas and brainstorming
- have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.

This is a challenging but truly satisfying role.

**Utu ā-tau/Salary**

The salary range for this role is $73,490 and $100,642, the appointing salary will be between $73,490 and $94,403 based on skills and experience.
