Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Our work is secret, but the reason for our success isn't. It's our people. And we're just like you. We're ordinary people. But together, we're doing extraordinary things to protect New Zealand and New Zealanders.

While we're ordinary people, we're not all the same. We welcome diversity, in all its forms, and in fact we consider it a strength.

Join us and become part of a Community where your skills, experiences and ideas are valued and you're encouraged to be curious, to share your ideas and of course, have fun along the way.

If you're up for the challenge, become Beyond Ordinary with us.

**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Communications Advisor in a truly unique and stimulating environment, at the forefront of New Zealand's national security.

You will have an opportunity to make your mark providing specialist communications advice and contributing to the design, development and implementation of the engagement and communications approach for the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) and Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB).

Working across the community, you will provide specialist advice to managers and senior leaders and work collaboratively to develop effective and innovative communications with internal and external stakeholders. Your work will directly promote and support GCSB and NZSIS visions by proactively identifying communications and media opportunities. This role will require you to effectively identify and manage any areas of risk.

Day to day responsibilities include a diverse range of tasks from creating stakeholder engagement plans and strategies, managing media requests and website content, to writing speeches for Directors, producing communication material and collateral, and managing key internal communications.

**We are looking for someone with**:

- A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or external/public relations
- Ideally 3 years experience working at a senior advisor level in communications/media
- Relevant experience in the NZ public sector with understanding of the machinery of government and our political environment
- Significant experience developing and implementing communications strategies and plans
- Ability to think strategically
- Experience writing speeches
- Demonstrated relationship management skills at all levels

If this sounds like you and you are energised by the opportunity to share your expertise and contribute to positive innovation in the communications space for the GCSB and NZSIS, we would love to hear from you.

**What we offer**:

- Four weeks annual leave plus some days for your wellbeing
- Gym, Social clubs and events
- Medical Insurance and Vision Care package
- Professional development opportunities - we are committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement

Join us and let us help you become Beyond Ordinary.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

Our COVID-19 vaccination policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated. You will be required to provide evidence regarding your vaccinations status.
